Hi, I’m Elaine Laura, a Surface Pattern Designer based in the UK.
I haven’t taken what you might consider the traditional route to becoming a Surface Pattern Designer but I have always had a passion for patterns and design and when I look back I can see that everything was leading to this.
The small and peaceful country village where I grew up is both my home and my greatest inspiration. My personal design projects not only speak of the beautiful nature that surrounds me, but also of my childhood memories. From throwing helicopter seeds from the sycamore trees in the air and watching with amazement as they spiral to the ground, all the way to splashing in small streams in the woods with my Grandfather.
I have a passion for contemporary designs and layouts that tell a story. I like my designs to have that personal touch that comes from a human being sitting down and making something with their hands, the imperfections are beautiful. I also love working digitally and find great satisfaction in making perfectly symmetrical shapes.
Mixing the two things that I love results in my personal style of combining hand crafted elements with digital techniques. I like to think of my designs as being perfectly imperfect.
